Diplomatico No.1 Batch Kettle Rum 70
Diplomatico has released a new range of limited edition rums showcasing Diplomatico's differing distillation processes. Kettle No.1 is a batch distillation, which means that a a volume of fermented liquid is introduced for distillation, as this is gradually depleted, it leaves a residue of water, which is then drained off to be added to the next batch. This is controlled by Maestros Roneros and is considered a semi-artisanal system. This rum has been been selected from the best sugar cane honeys and aged for 6 years in bourbon casks which results in a complex medium bodied aged rum. Sweet vanilla with notes of cherry and strawberry, complex with a touch on banana. Well balanced palate, sweet initially followed by tropical fruits, finishing soft and slightly sweet. El Dorado 15 Year Old Rum
The 15 year old is also highly decorated, International Wine & Spirit Competition awarded it a Gold Medal and the IWSC Trophy for Worlds Best Rum in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2008. Imbibe Magazine ICE Awards also awarded it Best Rum in the UK in 2009. Medium depth of gold. Full nose packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate, pepper and rich vanilla. Beautifully rounded with great spread of flavours across the mouth - a lush and almost chewy mouth-feel. Deep, rich underlying fruit and an oaky spiciness- magnificent, long and well ordered.
