Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2019

A classic white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the Plateau de la Crau, made from a traditional blend of Clairette, Grenache Blanc, Roussanne and Bourboulenc. The fruit is hand-harvested and vinified with care, with fermentation and ageing in a mix of barriques, demi-muids and large foudres to preserve balance and freshness while adding texture and depth. Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is one of Châteauneuf-du-Pape’s benchmark estates. Owned by the Brunier family since 1898, the domaine farms its vineyards on the stony Crau plateau, a terroir renowned for producing wines of structure, longevity and clarity. While celebrated for its reds, the estate’s whites are equally serious expressions of place, combining Mediterranean richness with poise and restraint.

Meursault Village Vieilles Vignes, Vincent Girardin 2020

"A lovely balance of ripe fruit, predominantly citrus but notes of stone fruit that bring a richness and depth to the wine. The medium to full texture is very appealing, nicely countered with an energy and vibrancy that lifts the wine. Classic Meursault showing all the style of this brilliant winemaker." Nick Daniell, Club Wine Buyer Having started with a tiny 3ha back in the 80s, Vincent Girardin now owns 14ha of enviably sited parcels, with another 19ha on lease, and this is practically the first in-house vintage for the Domaine. Head winemaker Eric Germain's steady conversion to biodynamics, earlier picking, reduced usage of new oak and earlier racking into neutral barrels all mean the focus is on terroir expression and energy, and the results in a vintage like 2020 are nothing short of profound. The wines are lithe and vibrant, with marked freshness, yet extra richness and concentration from the 2020 vintage.
