Domaine Evremond Classic Cuvee
Domaine Evremond Classic Cuvée First Edition is a landmark English sparkling wine crafted under the expert guidance of Champagne Taittinger's esteemed Chef de Cave, Alexandre Ponnavoy. This elegant blend of 55% Pinot Noir, 35% Chardonnay, and 10% Pinot Meunier marks a significant milestone in English sparkling wine, combining French winemaking heritage with the unique terroir of Kent's countryside. Why You'll Love It This is English sparkling wine at its finest—crafted with Champagne-level expertise and over three years of ageing on lees for exceptional complexity and finesse. Founded by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger (former president of Champagne Taittinger) and Master of Wine Patrick McGrath, Domaine Evremond brings world-class winemaking to England's chalky soils. The First Edition showcases the potential of English terroir with balanced dosage (7g/L), elegant structure, and the refinement you'd expect from this prestigious collaboration. Vineyard & Production Sourced from Domaine Evremond's 60-hectare estate in Chilham, Kent, planted on chalky soils similar to Champagne. The base wine comes predominantly from the 2020 vintage (80%), complemented by reserve wines from 2019 (20%). The wine was blended and bottled in spring 2021, then aged gracefully on lees for over three years before disgorgement in August 2024. Future editions will feature a gradually increasing share of Chardonnay as new vineyard plots reach optimal maturity. Tasting Notes Elegant and refined with fine, persistent bubbles. On the palate, it's beautifully balanced with crisp acidity, creamy texture, and layers of white fruit, toasted bread, and delicate minerality. The finish is long and sophisticated with lingering citrus and a touch of biscuit. Perfect Pairings A versatile sparkling wine perfect as an aperitif or paired with oysters, smoked salmon, sushi, soft cheeses, chicken dishes, or light seafood. Also excellent wi
