Domaine Klur, Gewürztraminer Le Katz Noisette 2024
This 100% Gewürztraminer comes from old vines, around 50 years of age, farmed organically and biodynamically. In the glass, it shows a bright golden hue, with lifted aromas of rose petals, lychee and exotic fruits like pickled mango. The palate balances a touch of residual sweetness with fresh acidity, giving it a juicy, off-dry feel and a surprisingly long, clean finish. It’s a very flexible food wine — great with gently spiced Asian dishes like Thai curry or Vietnamese cooking, but equally good with glazed pork belly or smoked salmon. The combination of aromatics and subtle sweetness makes it especially suited to dishes with a hint of spice or sweetness.
Saint Clair Pioneers Block 3 Sauvignon Blanc 2023
Saint Clair Family Estate was founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, pioneers of the Marlborough wine industry. Since planting their first vineyards in 1978 and establishing the estate in 1994, they have cultivated 160 hectares across ten distinct Marlborough sites. Each vineyard location is chosen for its unique terroir, producing grapes of exceptional quality. The estate follows sustainable viticulture practices and holds Sustainable Wines of New Zealand certification. Saint Clair is internationally recognised for consistently crafting award-winning Sauvignon Blancs, with critics praising its typicity, balance, and complexity. Vineyard The grapes for Pioneer Block 3 are sourced from fertile, deep, free-draining silt-loam soils in the Wairau Valley. The rows are planted at a unique 43-degree angle, promoting nuanced ripening: south-facing grapes develop greener herbaceous notes, while north-facing grapes carry tropical fruit character. The site’s cooler microclimate ensures slow, even ripening, enhancing concentration and flavour complexity. Rigorous monitoring during growth and harvesting in the cool evening hours ensures optimum flavour development and physiological ripeness. Winemaking The grapes are gently pressed immediately after harvesting to minimise skin contact and preserve aromatic intensity. Fermentation takes place in 100% stainless steel using selected yeasts at controlled cool temperatures, preserving freshness and vibrant fruit flavours. This block is recognised as a Pioneer Block wine for its distinctive intensity and complexity. Tasting Notes Zesty and vibrant, with classic Marlborough typicity. Aromas of gooseberry, nettle, and blackcurrant buds precede a palate layered with passion fruit, white peach, and a subtle mineral and salty richness. The wine finishes long, crisp, and refreshing, with a distinct multi-dimensional character. Grape Variety Sauvignon Blanc 100%
