Domaine Valmoissine Pinot Noir Louis Latour 2024
Louis Latour Domaine Valmoissine Pinot Noir is a refined and expressive red from the Coteaux du Verdon in Aups, Provence a surprising and rewarding source for Pinot Noir, and one that Louis Latour has been quietly perfecting for years. Grown on clay and limestone soils at 500 metres altitude, with cool nights preserving freshness and southern exposure ensuring ripeness, this is a Pinot Noir of genuine elegance and terroir character. Why You'll Love It Louis Latour is one of Burgundy's most celebrated négociants, and their decision to plant Pinot Noir in the hills of Provence was a bold one but the results speak for themselves. Valmoissine consistently delivers the variety's hallmark finesse and red fruit character, with a distinctly southern freshness that sets it apart from its Burgundian cousins. If you love Pinot Noir but want something a little different, this is the bottle to explore. Vineyard & Production The vineyard averages 15-year-old vines with modest yields of 35 hectolitres per hectare to preserve quality and concentration. Grapes are carefully selected at full maturity before traditional fermentation in open vats for gentle extraction of colour and aromatics. The wine is then aged for 10–12 months in stainless steel to maintain its freshness and vibrant fruit character. Tasting Notes Deep garnet-red in colour. A complex nose of blackcurrant and forest undergrowth. The palate is full-bodied, round, and well-structured — subtle notes of blackcurrant and raspberry, balanced tannins, and a fresh, persistent finish that reveals the wine's refinement and elegance. Perfect Pairings Versatile and food-friendly. Excellent with grilled red meats, duck breast, a variety of cheeses, and dishes incorporating red fruits. Equally at home at a casual dinner or a more refined occasion. The Blend Pinot Noir 100%
Spier Seaward Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Seaward grapes are selected from South Africa's top coastal areas, growing in a narrow band close to the cold Atlantic ocean and the temperate waters of False Bay. Such terroir provides what you might call a perfect storm - with barely any human intervention needed to produce outstanding harvests for our winemakers, every year. The vineyards are 6-20km from the ocean. They are planted on a range of aspects, from flat to north-eastern facing slopes that moderate phenolic development and enhance fruit preservation. The rich and deeply decomposed granite soil retains water well and is moderately fertile, resulting in low, concentrated yields. This adds to the complexity and tannin structure of the wine. Spier is one of South Africa's oldest wine farms with a recorded winemaking history dating back to 1692. The winemaking team is committed to crafting wines truly expressive of their terroir, with minimal interference. While rooted in this heritage, they have a vibrant and conscious energy. Their Growing for Good initiatives empower communities to make positive social and environmental change. Ranging from art and entrepreneurship to regenerative farming and ecological restoration, these projects and partnerships are creating a ripple effect of lasting and meaningful impact.
