Domaine Vincent Paris, Cornas 'La Geynale' 2021
The Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas ‘La Geynale’ 2021 is a striking, powerful expression of Cornas. In the glass, it’s almost opaque, with aromas of blackberries, cassis, cracked pepper, and warm spice unfolding into hints of smoked meat and earth. The palate is dense and richly layered - waves of dark fruit, graphite, and spice balanced by an almost electric minerality. The tannins are firm yet silky, giving structure without heaviness, and the finish seems to go on forever. A wine of power and precision. La Geynale comes from Vincent’s oldest vines, over 100 years old, planted on the steep, south-facing slopes of the Reynard district, one of Cornas’s most revered terroirs. The wine spends a year in used oak barrels (none new) to preserve purity. Vincent Paris farms just eight hectares in Cornas and Saint-Joseph, working meticulously to keep yields low and quality high. His thoughtful approach in both vineyard and cellar has made him one of the Rhône’s most admired winemakers.
M.A.D. Dashe Reserve Dry Creek Zinfandel 2021
This is a classic Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel, showing beautiful notes of chocolate and black raspberry fruit for which the region is famous. Our "Old-World" style winemaking techniques make the wine particularly velvety and complex; it has such balanced fruit and spice that it is delicious on its own or paired with a wide variety of foods. Not only is the texture of the wine extremely soft, rich, and appealing, but it also has a long fruit and spice finish that persists for a long time after you swallow the wine. In 2021, the wine was particularly aromatic and fruity, with beautiful notes of vanilla and french oak integrated into the wine. Layered and balanced, this is a great wine to drink now but will age beautifully.
