Edmeades Zinfandel Mendocino County 2022

Edmeades Zinfandel is a bold, expressive red from the rugged coastal vineyards of Mendocino County, Northern California. Known for its authenticity and sense of place, this wine reflects the distinctive terroir of the Mendocino Ridge, Redwood, and Ukiah valleys. Crafted using traditional, low-intervention methods, it highlights the pure expression of the region’s soils and climate. History & Philosophy Edmeades has been producing limited-bottling, site-driven wines since 1972, originating from the first modern-day vineyard planted in Anderson Valley by Dr. Donald Edmeades in 1963. Acquired by the Jackson family in 1988, the winery remains committed to natural winemaking: native yeast fermentations, hand punch downs, minimal manipulation, and no fining or filtration. This approach ensures each vintage expresses the unique character of Mendocino County. Winemaking The 2022 Zinfandel is fermented with native yeasts in small, open-top bins. After fermentation, the wine is aged for nine months in a combination of 57% French oak and 43% American oak, allowing for integration of spice and structure while preserving vibrant fruit. Tasting Notes The nose opens with aromas of baking spices such as cinnamon and cloves, leading to blackberries, black currants, and dried sage. On the palate, the wine is lush and round, with subtle, integrated tannins and balanced acidity, delivering a fresh and focused finish. Food Matching Pairs beautifully with grilled meats, hearty stews, barbecued dishes, and aged cheeses. Technical Details Appellation: Mendocino County Composition: 91% Zinfandel, 9% Syrah Oak Ageing: 9 months in French (57%) and American (43%) oak

Meerlust Pinot Noir 2023

Meerlust Pinot Noir is a refined and elegantly structured expression of Pinot Noir from the coastal Stellenbosch region, grown on granitic soils at the Compagniesdrift terroir. The cooling maritime influence of False Bay slows ripening and preserves natural acidity, producing a Pinot Noir of real finesse, complexity and layered character. Why You'll Love It Meerlust Estate has been owned by the Myburgh family since 1756, and under the guidance of eighth-generation Hannes Myburgh and winemaker Wim Truter, the estate combines centuries of tradition with modern winemaking expertise to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines from Stellenbosch. Pinot Noir is one of the most demanding varieties to grow and vinify, and Meerlust's Compagniesdrift terroir, with its granitic soils and cooling sea influence, is ideally suited to producing Pinot of real distinction. This is Cape Pinot Noir at its most refined. Vineyard & Production Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness from selected blocks at the Compagniesdrift terroir, then destemmed and gently crushed into small fermenters. Fermentation proceeds with minimal extraction to preserve elegance and finesse. Post-fermentation, the wine is matured in a combination of new and second-fill 300-litre barrels to develop structure and complexity before bottling. Tasting Notes Vibrant garnet in colour with a youthful appearance. Lifted floral perfume on the nose with brooding red berries, earthy wild mushrooms and hints of spice. The palate displays pure Pinot fruit, red cherry and musk flavours, fresh acidity, layered complexity and fine, powdery tannins on the finish. Perfect Pairings A wonderfully versatile Pinot Noir. Excellent with duck, Parma ham, roasted chicken and grilled line fish. Also a natural partner for tuna, wild mushrooms and traditional cheeses. Grape Variety Pinot Noir 100%
