Wakefield Masterstroke Cabernet Shiraz 2017

' The Taylor family of Wakefield Wines have been crafting fine Australian wine for five decades and over three generations. They are proud members of Australia's First Families of Wine - an organistion that has a combined 1,250 years of unrivalled heritage and iconic wines from families that have shaped Australia's winemaking history. Australia's iconic wine regions provide great diversity. With the Jaraman range Wakefield Wines search for parcels of extraordinary fruit to craft wines that showcase their distinctive regional characteristics and style. Every wine we craft is born from a Masterstroke: a decision that changed the course of Australian winemaking. When Bill Taylor Snr. established the family's winery in the Clare Valley in 1969, he recognised the potential for the region to produce outstanding table wines. In doing so, he proved the extraordinary quality of Clare wines to the world and instilled in our winemaking a great passion for regional exploration and winemaking artistry. This range offers the ultimate expressions of varietal character and champions the regional terroir of three diverse South Australian wine regions where each varietal shines. The Masterstroke collection celebrates Australia's wine regions as an unending source of discovery and inspiration. Award-winning landscape photographer, Benjamin Goode, has beautifully captured each of the three wine regions and his stunning images are featured on each of the wine bottles in the range. In the growing season leading up to vintage 2017, winter rainfall was above average, in fact it was the wettest year recorded since 2000. Weather conditions during flowering were favourable and hence yield was good across all varieties. With ripening conditions mild, our winemakers have declared the vintage to be above average vintage in terms of both quantity and fruit quality. Crafted for immediate enjoyment but will cellar over a long term under ideal conditions. '
