The 2021 vintage, though challenging, produced fruit of outstanding quality with remarkable freshness and vibrancy. Vineyard & Production Sourced from the historic Don Maximiano vineyards in the Aconcagua Valley, primarily from the Max I, Max II, and Max V blocks planted on north- and north-east-facing slopes with gradients of 5°–25°. Soils vary from volcanic and colluvial (Max I and II) to deep gravelly alluvial soils (Max V), all offering excellent drainage. The region benefits from warm summer days and cooling Pacific breezes each evening. Grapes were hand-harvested in the cool early hours and transported in small 15-kg boxes. After rigorous double sorting, fermentation took place in small stainless steel tanks with maceration lasting 8–30 days. The wine was matured for 22 months in French oak barrels (65% new), where malolactic fermentation occurred naturally. Tasting Notes Lifted aromas of ripe cherries and raspberries with subtle hints of cocoa, clove, and delicate violet notes. The palate mirrors the bouquet, revealing layers of cherries, raspberries, and cassis, enhanced by sweet cocoa and warming spice. Balanced tension, freshness, and juiciness give
La Crema Pinot Noir Russian River 2021
La Crema Russian River Valley Pinot Noir is a refined, elegant expression of cool-climate Pinot Noir from one of the world’s premier wine-growing regions. Crafted to showcase the unique terroir of Sonoma County, this wine combines complexity, freshness, and a generous mouthfeel. Meet the producer Founded in 1979, La Crema has focused exclusively on cool-climate appellations. Family-owned and operated, the winery’s philosophy is rooted in capturing the character of each vineyard site, producing wines that are expressive, elegant, and true to their origins. Vineyard and vintage The Russian River Valley AVA benefits from a strong maritime influence from the Pacific Ocean, moderating summer temperatures and allowing grapes to ripen slowly. The 2021 vintage was marked by a relatively dry winter, cold spring with occasional frost, and a warm, dry summer. Drought conditions reduced yields, but the grapes achieved remarkable concentration of flavour and vibrant aromatics. Harvest began on 26th August 2021. Winemaking Fruit is predominantly hand-picked and gently de-stemmed, with 70% whole berries used in tank. The grapes undergo a cold soak at 48°F for 3–5 days, followed by fermentation in open-top tanks with three daily punch downs during active fermentation. Free-run wine settles overnight in tank before being racked into a combination of new and used French oak barrels for 8–9 months. No racking occurs until blending prior to bottling. Tasting notes Deep, expressive aromas of blackberry, raspberry, and spice cake lead to a palate of fresh cherry, boysenberry, and pomegranate. The wine is layered and rich, with a generous, elegant mouthfeel and a long, harmonious finish. Wine specifications Appellation: Russian River Valley Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir Oak: 100% French oak, 33% new
