Esk Valley Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2023
Esk Valley Sauvignon Blanc is an intensely aromatic wine in the classic Marlborough style, showcasing the vibrant character that has made New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc world-famous. Sourced from carefully selected vineyard sites in both the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, this wine offers a medley of ripe tropical fruits, citrus, and fresh herbs with a crisp, refreshing finish. Why You'll Love It This is Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at its best—vibrant, aromatic, and beautifully balanced with bright natural acidity. The blend of fruit from two distinct valleys creates exceptional complexity: Wairau Valley provides structure and tropical fruit notes, while Awatere Valley adds pungent nettle, pea pod, and gooseberry character. The 2023 vintage was superb, with extended ripening producing wines with great depth of flavour and outstanding quality at an exceptional price point. Vineyard & Production Sourced from stony vineyard sites in the Wairau Valley (40%) and the cooler Awatere Valley in Marlborough. The 2023 vintage benefited from high soil moisture, strong canopy growth, and temperatures just above the long-term average, extending the growing season for great flavour development. Dry weather from veraison through harvest resulted in low disease pressure and clean fruit. Individual vineyard parcels were harvested and immediately pressed to capture freshness. Fermentation was conducted at cool temperatures with selected yeast strains, then wines were left on lees and stirred to gain richness and complexity before blending and bottling. Tasting Notes Intensely aromatic with classic Marlborough character. The nose reveals ripe tropical fruits, citrus, and fresh herbs with pungent notes of nettle and gooseberry. Dry and medium-bodied on the palate with vibrant acidity, tropical fruit flavours, and a crisp, refreshing finish that lingers beautifully. Perfect Pairings A versatile wine perfect with seafood, oysters, grilled fish, sushi, Asian-inspired dishes, goat cheese salads,
Fritz Walter Riesling Trocken 2024
Fritz Walter Riesling Trocken is a quintessential expression of Pfalz Riesling from Germany , combining purity of fruit with elegant minerality. Grown on gently sloping vineyards with loess, sandstone, and limestone soils, this white wine reflects the warm days and cool nights that define the Pfalz microclimate, preserving natural acidity while developing generous fruit flavours of real depth and precision. Why You'll Love It Fritz Walter is a family-run estate located in Niederhorbach, at the heart of Germany's Pfalz region, established in 1832. For nearly two centuries the estate has been producing expressive, terroir-driven wines that blend traditional craftsmanship with modern precision, with a focus on purity, freshness, and regional authenticity. The Pfalz is one of Germany's warmest and most diverse wine regions, producing Riesling of remarkable richness and aromatic complexity, and Fritz Walter's Trocken is one of the finest everyday expressions of what the region can achieve. Vineyard & Production Riesling grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness from vineyards on loess, sandstone, and limestone soils, carefully pressed to preserve the variety's hallmark acidity and aromatic clarity. Fermentation occurs slowly at cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks, ensuring a crisp, fruit-forward profile. The wine is then matured briefly on fine lees to enhance mouthfeel and lend subtle complexity without diminishing its freshness. Tasting Notes Pale lemon in the glass. The nose opens with bright aromas of green apple, citrus blossom, and pear, with hints of flint and wet stone. On the palate, the wine is off-dry yet perfectly balanced, showing juicy orchard fruit, lime zest, and a mineral edge. A refreshing acidity leads to a clean, lingering finish. Perfect Pairings A versatile partner for many cuisines, pairing beautifully with seafood, Asian-inspired dishes, and mildly spiced curries. Also excellent with soft cheeses, light poultry dishes, and as a refreshi
