Faiveley Mercurey Clos Rochette Blanc (Magnum) 2022

Faiveley Mercurey Clos Rochette Blanc is a benchmark white Burgundy from one of the Cote Chalonnaise's most celebrated monopole vineyards, produced by Domaine Faiveley, a family estate now in its seventh generation under Erwan and Eve Faiveley. This magnum format, 150cl, is the perfect format for ageing and for sharing at the table. First organic growing season for Faiveley, 2022 is a vintage of exceptional ripeness and quality. Why You'll Love It For more than 180 years, a passion for wine has been passed from one Faiveley generation to the next. Clos Rochette has been a Faiveley Monopole since 1933, a 5.45-hectare parcel of clay-limestone soils strewn with small stones, lying next to the famed La Framboisiere vineyard. The result is a white Burgundy of real tension, precision and aromatic finesse, with the structure and depth to age beautifully. In magnum, it will reward patience for many years to come. Vineyard & Production Clos Rochette covers 5.45 hectares with vines planted between 1960 and 2017, on compact clay-limestone soils strewn with small stones in Mercurey, Cote Chalonnaise. Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted before pneumatic pressing and settling. Fermentation lasts four weeks, with 55% of the must vinified in French oak barrels (25% new) and the remainder in stainless steel. The wine is then aged for 16 months with regular batonnage, allowing delicate oak notes to integrate while preserving freshness and the vineyard's distinctive character. 2022 was Faiveley's first fully organic growing season. Tasting Notes An intricate bouquet of white flowers, lemon sherbet and subtle spices on the nose. The palate delivers tension and precision, supported by the smooth, weighted texture from oak maturation. Layers of ripe yellow fruit unfold towards a refined finish accented with fresh apricot. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for vol-au-vents, delicate fish dishes, shellfish, oysters and mussels. Also excellent with roast chicken, soft cheeses
