Gavi La Battistina 2025
Gavi La Battistina is a crisp, aromatic white wine from Araldica's La Battistina estate in the Gavi DOCG, Italy , crafted from 100% Cortese grown on a unique combination of limestone and clay soils. With 35-year-old vines and a south-facing aspect, this is one of Italy's most fashionable and characterful white wines at an outstanding everyday price. Why You'll Love It The La Battistina estate consists of 25 hectares of south-facing vineyards in the Gavi DOCG, including 5 hectares within the prestigious Gavi del Comune di Gavi sub-zone. What makes this estate truly distinctive is its unique isolated bubble of chalky, mineral soil, a combination of limestone and clay that allows full ripening of the Cortese grape while preserving the freshness and mineral precision that define great Gavi. The estate is divided into three distinct areas, each producing wines of different character, with La Battistina representing the unoaked, fruit-driven expression of the estate's finest fruit. Vineyard & Production Vines average 35 years of age, grown on south-facing slopes on a unique combination of limestone and clay soils that contribute both mineral depth and the ability to fully ripen the Cortese grape. The estate's 25 hectares are divided into three distinct areas, with the majority of grapes going to produce the unoaked La Battistina, while the premium Bricco Battistina comes from vines on the crown of the hill and Nuovo Quadro from a small plot within the Gavi sub-zone. Vinified without oak to preserve the variety's natural freshness and aromatic character. Tasting Notes Aromatic and zesty on the nose, with apple, lime, and kiwi notes and a hint of minerality. The palate is juicy and weighty, with a zippy citric acidity that creates a refreshing, mouthwatering, and satisfying finish. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for seafood, shellfish, grilled fish, and light pasta dishes. Also excellent as an aperitif or alongside fresh cheeses and Italian antipasti. Grape Varieties Co
