Gergenti Il Vero Siciliano 2024
Gergenti Il Vero Siciliano is an authentic blend that captures the true spirit of Sicily . Crafted from three of the island's most expressive native varieties, Nero d'Avola , Nerello Mascalese and Frappato , it reflects the sun-drenched vineyards, mineral-rich soils and timeless winemaking traditions of southern Italy . Why You'll Love It This is Sicilian red wine at its most honest and characterful. Gergenti's philosophy is simple: let the island speak for itself. By blending three complementary native varieties and allowing the grapes to hang a little longer on the vine for extra concentration, they produce a wine of real depth and warmth that still retains the freshness and vibrancy Sicily does so well. Generous, approachable and full of personality. Vineyard and Production Grapes are grown on hillside vineyards and left on the vines for a few extra days after reaching maturity to achieve greater concentration and aromatic depth. After fermentation, the wine is aged for six months in large oak barrels, developing structure, roundness and complexity while maintaining its vibrant fruit character. Tasting Notes Deep ruby red in colour, Il Vero Siciliano opens with aromas of ripe red fruits and subtle spice. The palate is soft and full-bodied, offering layers of cherry, plum and wild berries balanced by gentle tannins and a smooth, lingering finish. Perfect Pairings Ideal with hearty meat dishes, aged cheeses and traditional Sicilian cold cuts. Also excellent with slow-braised lamb, pasta with rich meat sauces or a rustic charcuterie board. Grape Varieties Nero d'Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Frappato
