GEVREY CHAMBERTIN 1er Cru Lavaut Saint Jacques Domaine J. Confuron Cotetidot 2018

(from a .30 ha parcel). A slightly cooler nose is comprised by notes of red and dark currant with background nuances of forest floor, game and earth. There is better vibrancy to the larger-scaled flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the mouth coating and bitter fruit pit-inflected finish that is very firm. Lavaut St. Jacques generally does better in warmer years and to that end this is a bit fresher than any of the foregoing wines though with that said, this is still somewhat atypically ripe.

Wayfarer Golden Mean Pinot Noir, Sonoma County 2021

Fresh aromatic nose with anise, violet, rose petal, raspberry and cranberry. The palate is broader showing a good depth of dark fruit character with savory and spice notes.
