Ghost Corner The Bowline Sauvignon Blanc Semillion 2019
Ghost Corner The Bowline is a complex and characterful white wine from the Western Cape of South Africa , blending Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon in a classic Cape white tradition. Named after the bowline, the sailor's knot known as the king of knots for its strength, simplicity and symbolism of union and completion, this wine ties together two complementary varieties into something greater than the sum of its parts. Why You'll Love It Ghost Corner is one of South Africa's most exciting producers, crafting wines from the wild, windswept vineyards of the Elim and Overberg regions. The Bowline is their signature white blend, and it showcases the Cape's remarkable ability to produce Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon of real complexity and depth. Well-balanced oak, a refreshing finish and a Vivino rating of 4.2 make this a wine that consistently over-delivers for the price. Vineyard and Production Sourced from Ghost Corner's vineyards in the Western Cape, where the cool maritime climate and diverse soils create ideal conditions for aromatic white varieties. The Semillon contributes green fig and dusty complexity, while the Sauvignon Blanc brings ripe asparagus notes and vibrant freshness. Careful oak integration adds structure and weight without masking the wine's natural aromatic character. Tasting Notes Aromatic and complex on the nose, with green fig and dusty notes from the Semillon complemented by ripe asparagus and fresh citrus from the Sauvignon Blanc. The palate is well-structured with balanced oak, good acidity and a refreshing, smooth finish that lingers with real elegance. Perfect Pairings A versatile food wine. Excellent with roast chicken, fresh seafood, grilled fish or a classic fish pie. Also outstanding alongside soft goat's cheese, asparagus dishes or a light summer salad. Grape Varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon
Wakefield Estate Riesling 2025
' The Taylor family of Wakefield Wines have been crafting fine Australian wine for five decades and over three generations. They are proud members of Australia's First Families of Wine - an organistion that has a combined 1,250 years of unrivalled heritage and iconic wines from families that have shaped Australia's winemaking history. When the Taylor family established their wine business back in 1969, they decided to create a proper 'old world' style estate in the Clare Valley. That's where the name 'Estate' comes from. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz were the very first wines released and are the heart and soul of the business. In the language of wine, an estate means that the vineyards and winery are in the same location. The inspiration for this came from the great producers of Bordeaux and in particular Chateau Mouton Rothschild who famously were the first to also bottle their wines on the estate. This approach of having ultimate control over the vineyards, winery and even bottling of the wines appealed to the Taylor family. These days the wines are still crafted and bottled on the estate although not all of the fruit is grown there. This is mainly because of the popularity of the wines, but occasionally fruit from other areas is of a higher quality, as is the case for the Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc. It's this commitment to the way our wines are crafted that has earned the Taylors an enviable reputation and contributed to their continued success. Wakefield Wines have consistently won awards around the world for the quality of the wines for almost half a century. '
