Glenelly Estate Reserve 2017
Glenelly’s signature red blend, crafted from Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Rich cassis and mulberry aromas with cedar and tobacco reveal Cabernet as the backbone, while the mid-palate shows red and black cherry with hints of black pepper from Syrah. Intense fruit flavours are layered with mocha, Christmas cake, sandalwood, and leather, balanced by fresh acidity and firm tannins, finishing clean and dry. Vineyard & Terroir Estate vineyards in Stellenbosch, South Africa. A late but cold winter and warm spring/summer ensured small berries, lower yields, and concentrated flavour in the grapes. Winemaking Hand-sorted grapes lightly crushed and cold-soaked for three days before natural fermentation. Extended skin contact for 2–3 weeks. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels with malolactic fermentation, racked every four months. Tasting Notes Rich cassis, mulberry, cedar, tobacco, mocha, Christmas cake, black pepper spice, firm tannins, clean finish. Food Pairing Perfect with roasted meats, game, and aged cheeses. Luigi Bosca Malbec 2024
Luigi Bosca Malbec is crafted from grapes grown in the renowned Mendoza regions of Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. The vineyards are planted at altitudes between 900 and 1,100 metres, with vines averaging 35 years in age, producing fruit with excellent concentration and varietal character. Variety 100% Malbec Vineyards and Terroir The high-altitude vineyards contribute to ideal diurnal temperature variation, helping the grapes retain natural acidity while developing intense flavours. Winemaking Grapes are hand-harvested, with careful bunch selection and destemming. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel vats at a controlled 28°C using selected yeasts. Post-fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, allowing the oak influence to integrate seamlessly with the fruit. The wine is then bottled following gentle filtration to preserve its purity and expression. Tasting Notes The wine shows a bright purple-red colour with pronounced aromas of red fruits, complemented by floral and subtle spicy notes. On the palate, it is expressive and full-bodied, with sweet, supple tannins and excellent fruit concentration. Oak maturation adds structure, depth, and a long, clean finish. Cellaring Potential 5 years Serving Suggestions Serve between 16°C and 18°C. Ideal with grilled red meats, such as skirt steak with mashed potatoes or rib-eye with rosemary-roasted potatoes.
