Champagne Gremillet was founded by Jean-Michel Gremillet in 1979 and is situated in the southern Aube, near Troyes, where the vineyards achieve a richer, more characterful style of Champagne . The Blanc de Blancs is a pure Chardonnay cuvee of real class and distinction, awarded Gold at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2023, and crafted by winemaker Jean-Christophe Gremillet with meticulous attention to detail. A blend of four to five vintages with 20% reserve wine, it offers the complexity and depth of a prestige cuvee at a very approachable price. The extended lees ageing of 30 to 36 months adds a beautifully creamy, toasty character that sets it apart. Sustainable and Gold medal awarded. Vineyard and Production. Composed entirely of the cuvee, the first and finest press. Cool alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in temperature-controlled vats. Once in bottle, ageing lasts for 30 to 36 months. The brut dosage is 9g/l, with the liqueur d'expedition sourced from finished bottles of Champagne, ensuring perfect integration and freshness. Tasting Notes. Creamy aromas combined with characteristic toasty yeast overtones, complemented by ripe mature fruit and classic baked biscuit flavours. The finish is long, classy and beautifully sustained. ' Housed in a breath-taking art nouveau villa in Reims with sprawling chalk cellars, Champagne Pommery have always taken a unique and individualistic approach to the world's foremost sparkling wine. When Madame Pommery took the helm in 1865, she commissioned the building of what was possibly France's greatest architectural project since Versailles. An anglophile at heart, Madame Pommery also set out to create a Champagne in tune with drier styles preferred by the English, who were, and remain, some of the world's most prolific consumers of Champagne. In doing this, she is credited with pioneering the Brut style of Champagne that is now the most popular style on the market. A few years ago, Pommery demonstrated that they are still true firebrands and pioneers, purchasing vineyard land in Hampshire, England and launching Louis Pommery England Brut, the first commercial English Sparkling Wine to be made by a Champagne house.
