Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Greywacke Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2024 is a vibrant and expressive white from New Zealand, made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc sourced from prime vineyards in the Southern Valleys and central Wairau Plains. The grapes, grown on alluvial soils rich in greywacke river stones and clay-loams, are machine-harvested at night, lightly pressed, cold-settled, and fermented primarily in stainless steel tanks before spending time on lees to build texture, resulting in a bright, aromatic wine with depth, structure, and purity of fruit. Meet the producer Founded in 2009 by Kevin Judd, long-time chief winemaker at Cloudy Bay, Greywacke focuses on crafting terroir-driven Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with precision and elegance. Judd is also an acclaimed wine photographer, capturing the landscapes and vineyards that inspire his wines. Production Grapes are harvested largely by machine during cool night-time conditions, lightly pressed, and cold-settled before fermentation in stainless steel tanks with cultured yeasts. Individual vineyard batches are left on lees until blending, preserving freshness, aromatic intensity, and textural complexity. Tasting notes Aromas of honeydew melon, orange blossom, and subtle herbaceous notes lead to a palate of juicy lemon, steely cassis, and a textured mid-palate with hints of pastis and wildflowers. The wine is bright, structured, and layered, with excellent depth and persistence. Food match Pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, shellfish, goat cheese, light salads, and Asian-inspired dishes.
