Mayfield Gin
Mayfield Gin features a robust incorporation of Sussex Hops at the core of its botanical selection. Originally discovered growing wild in a Sussex hedgerow, the specific variety chosen was later nurtured and cultivated by hop farmer Andrew Hoad. Alongside these hops, the gin includes juniper, orange, lemon, coriander, orris, angelica, and liquorice. The label alludes to the tale of St. Dunstan seizing the Devil by the nose with a pair of tongs in Mayfield, causing the infernal figure to flee and soothe his injured nose in the waters of Tunbridge Wells, the home of MoM Towers. On the nose, there is an aroma of oily juniper, sesame, and floral hops complemented by a generous splash of citrus. The palate presents a peppery onset with juniper prominently at the forefront, supported by nuances of pine and cardamom, creating a savoury experience. Orange zest cuts through cleanly. The aftertaste reveals notes reminiscent of a forest floor and dried flower petals. The flavour profile of Mayfield Gin is thus.
