HAUTES CÔTES DE NUITS Clos du Prieuré Domaine Thibault Liger-Belair (2022cl) 2022
A spicier if otherwise similar nose is trimmed in just a hint of wood. Here too there is good vibrancy to the delicious and caressing middleweight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the lightly austere and rustic finale that comes up a bit short. I suspect that this will better harmonize with a few years of keeping.
MARSANNAY Champ Salomon Domaine Derey Frères 2021
Moderately generous wood frames spicy and sauvage-scented aromas of plum and various dark berries. The delicious and vibrant if not especially dense lighter weight flavors possess good detail on the slightly austere and somewhat short finish that flirts with dryness. As the description suggests, this is presently pretty awkward and it’s not clear if this will eventually harmonize.
