The 2023 Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Corvées de Villy comes from chalky soils near the village of Chaux. It has a light, rather simple bouquet that just needs more presence and intensity. The palate is medium-bodied and quite sapid, with a slightly herbaceous entry and fine acidity from the chalk, but it just tapers a little toward the finish.

The 2019 La Réserve de Léoville Barton offers a mixture of red and black fruit, quite perfumed and floral, with crushed violet. The palate is well balanced, very supple, pure and elegant, leading to a delineated finish. This is lovely in an old-school way and will only need a couple of years in bottle.
