Heaphy Riesling Nelson 2023

Heaphy Riesling is from some of the oldest Riesling vines in New Zealand, this is a zesty, aromatic wine full of lime, red apple and bright stone fruit, with a generous mouthfeel and refreshing lift. Meet the Producer Heaphy Vineyard is a small, quality-focused winery in the north-west corner of New Zealand’s South Island, in the Nelson Tasman region. The vineyards benefit from long sunshine hours and cooling sea breezes, producing wines that are vibrant, characterful and true to their coastal terroir. Production Sourced from 30- to 50-year-old unirrigated vines rooted in Moutere clay soils. Grapes are harvested in late February, then crushed to tank, settled and racked, before resting on fine lees for eight months to enhance complexity and texture. Tasting Notes A fragrant nose of fresh ginger, cardamom and jasmine leads to a rich palate of juicy lime, red apple and stone fruit. Generous in body with lifted aromatics, finishing with texture and zest. A wine that feels like lounging in the sun. Food Match Perfect with fish tacos and zesty lime, or chicken and cauliflower wings with blue cheese sauce. Grape Variety Riesling

Vergelegen Wild Winds Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Part of Vergelegen’s Heritage Range, this Sauvignon Blanc comes from the estate’s highest vineyards on the Schaapenberg, overlooking the wild Atlantic swells of False Bay. These exposed sites lend the wine its striking freshness and coastal character. Winemaking Hand-picked over an extended period, the grapes were destemmed and pressed using both inert and oxidative methods. Fermentation took place in stainless steel with a range of yeasts to enhance complexity, followed by regular lees stirring to balance the naturally high acidity. The wine was blended, lightly filtered and bottled to preserve its pure fruit profile. Tasting Notes A natural and expressive Sauvignon Blanc with bright guava and honeydew melon aromas. The palate is crisp and flinty with excellent acidity and a refined, lingering finish. Food Pairing Superb with oysters, fresh salads or goat’s cheese. Awards Tim Atkin MW: 92 pts
