Montes Outer Limits Zapallar Coast Pinot Noir 2022

Outer Limits by Montes, Zapallar Pinot Noir is a refined Pinot Noir from the Zapallar Vineyard in Chile’s Aconcagua Valley. Planted just 7 km from the Pacific coast at 150 metres above sea level, the granite soils with layers of clay, silt, and gravel produce grapes with natural minerality, racy acidity, and concentrated aromas. Hand-harvested and gently vinified, the wine undergoes cold maceration, controlled fermentation, and extended skin contact before ageing in a mix of new and used French oak barrels, resulting in a bright, elegant Pinot Noir with finesse and complexity. Meet the producer Montes was established in 1988 by Aurelio Montes Jnr, Douglas Murray, Alfredo Vidaurre, and Pedro Grand, with a mission to produce Chile’s finest wines from the country’s best terroirs. The Outer Limits range represents the winery’s ambition to explore innovative vineyard sites and push the boundaries of Chilean viticulture. Production Grapes are hand-picked and sorted carefully. They undergo cold pre-fermentation maceration to extract aroma and colour, followed by fermentation at controlled temperatures. Extended skin contact adds structure and depth, with a small portion fermented without skins to retain fresh fruit character. Natural malolactic conversion is followed by 10–12 months ageing in French oak barrels. Tasting notes Bright ruby red in colour, with aromas of raspberry, strawberry, and cherry, complemented by subtle notes of damp earth, herbs, and floral nuances. On the palate, the wine is light-bodied yet structured, with rounded tannins, elegant texture, and a refined, lingering finish. Food match Pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, grilled salmon, and lightly seasoned pork dishes. Grape 100% Pinot Noir
