Il Cascinone Campo Fiorito Chardonnay 2021
A proper grown-up, textural Chardonnay from the Campo Fiorito vineyard, a 5-hectare north-east facing plot on the stunning Il Cascinone estate in Piemonte. This wine combines fresh stone fruit with subtle oak complexity, delivering a refined and expressive white wine. Meet the Producer Il Cascinone was acquired by leading Piemonte producer Araldica in 1999. The estate, nestled in the Monferrato hills, is renowned for its carefully managed vineyards and commitment to producing wines that reflect the elegance and typicity of the region. Production The 5ha Campo Fiorito vineyard faces north-east, benefiting from a cooler site ideal for slower ripening and fresh whites. Grapes are typically harvested between late August and early September. Approximately 15% of the wine is fermented and aged in French oak barriques to add richness and complexity, while the remainder is vinified in stainless steel to preserve freshness. Tasting Notes The nose is delicate, showing ripe stone fruit with lightly honeyed and creamy oak notes. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, balanced and textured, with ripe peach flavours, a satisfying mouthfeel, and a fresh, long finish with subtle savoury and toasty undertones. Food Match Pairs beautifully with white meats in cream sauces or fresh avocado salads.
