Il Cascinone D'Annona Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2021
Il Cascinone D'Annona is a single-vineyard Barbera d'Asti Superiore from the Monferrato hills of Piemonte, crafted from vines over 60 years old by winemaker Carlo Manera at the family-owned d'Annona vineyard. Opulent, silky, and beautifully structured, this is Barbera at its most serious and rewarding. Why You'll Love It Il Cascinone was acquired by Araldica in 1999 and has since become one of the Monferrato's most respected estates, renowned for its exceptional Barbera vineyards. The d'Annona vineyard, owned by Claudio and Lella Manera, is a single 3.5-hectare site with vines over 60 years old, producing fruit of remarkable concentration and complexity. Aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barriques followed by a further 18 months in bottle, this is a wine that rewards patience and repays attention. Silver medal at the International Wine Challenge 2024. Vineyard & Production Grapes are hand-picked from the d'Annona vineyard in the Monferrato hills, then destemmed and crushed before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel with pumping over four times daily. The wine is transferred to French oak barriques, two-thirds new and one-third one-year-old, for malolactic fermentation and 18 to 20 months of ageing, followed by a further 18 months in bottle before release. Tasting Notes Lifted aromas of cherry, baked earth, spice and violet on the nose. The palate is silky and concentrated, with sour cherry, herbs, leather and opulent black cherry fruit. Sweet, ripe tannins are balanced by refreshing acidity, finishing with lingering notes of dark chocolate and spice. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for Piemontese classics, carne cruda, lamb cutlets, grilled steak, and rich bean stews. Also excellent with aged hard cheeses and hearty braised dishes. Grape Variety Barbera 100%
Mas Belles Eaux Carmin 2023
Mas Belles Eaux Carmin is the flagship cuvee of the estate, a rich and expressive red from the Languedoc Pezenas appellation in southern France. Crafted from a Syrah-led blend with Grenache Noir, it is a wine of real depth, elegance, and character that reflects the very best of this prestigious terroir. Why You'll Love It Pezenas is one of the Languedoc's most exciting appellations, producing wines of genuine complexity and age-worthiness from its distinctive limestone and clay soils. Carmin is the jewel in the Mas Belles Eaux crown, made from one of the estate's finest Syrah plots and crafted with the same care and precision you would expect from a wine at twice the price. This is southern France at its most refined. Vineyard & Production The blend is built around 75% Syrah from a single prestigious plot, complemented by 25% Grenache Noir. Grapes are carefully selected and vinified to preserve fruit purity and natural structure, before gentle maturation in oak to integrate subtle toasty nuances and add layers of complexity. The result is a wine that is both powerful and polished. Tasting Notes Deep red with ruby highlights. The nose is intense and inviting, with aromas of blackberry, dark spice, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is rich and fruity with notes of sweet spice and a delicate toasted character. Silky tannins provide structure and elegance, while a gentle persistence and long finish complete the picture. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for grilled and roasted meats, slow-cooked lamb, hearty Mediterranean stews, and mature hard cheeses. Also excellent alongside duck confit or a well-aged charcuterie board. The Blend 75% Syrah, 25% Grenache Noir
