JJ Hahn Western Ridge Planting Shiraz 2021 1975

A single vineyard Shiraz from the Rolf Binder Estate on the Barossa’s Western Ridge sub-region, showcasing the richness of old vine Barossa Shiraz. Medium to full-bodied with a deep purple colour, expressive aromas of dark plum, blackberry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, subtle earthy dark chocolate and spice. The palate is rich, silky, and layered with plush dark fruits, cashmere-like tannins, and a long, sleek, deeply fruited finish. Vineyard & Terroir Sourced from the 1975 planting on the Western Ridge, benefiting from a cool, wet 2021 vintage that produced concentrated flavours, balanced acidity, and fine tannins. Winemaking Grapes were hand and machine harvested, crushed, and fermented in open fermenters. Fermentation completed in tank, then matured in older French and American oak barrels (6 years) for 16 months before blending and bottling. Tasting Notes Dark plum, blackberry, liquorice, vanillin cedar, earthy dark chocolate, spice, plush dark fruits, long silky finish. Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with slow-roasted lamb, venison, or rich beef stews. Grape Variety Shiraz (Syrah) Awards Halliday: 95 pts
