Kovacs Nimrod Unoaked Chardonnay 2023

Kovács Nimród Unoaked Chardonnay is a vibrant and refreshing expression of cool-climate Hungarian Chardonnay, sourced from vineyards around Noszvaj in the Eger region. Crafted without the influence of oak, this wine focuses on purity, freshness and varietal clarity, highlighting the natural character of the fruit and the region’s distinctive terroir. The result is a crisp, elegant Chardonnay with bright acidity, gentle fruit expression and a clean, mineral-driven finish. Meet the Producer Kovács Nimród Winery is one of Hungary’s most dynamic modern estates, combining international expertise with a deep respect for local terroir. Based in the historic Eger region, the winery has built a reputation for precise, expressive wines that showcase both indigenous and international grape varieties. Under the guidance of winemaker István Polyák, the focus is on balance, finesse and authenticity. Vineyard The grapes are sourced from the Nyilasmár and Nagyfai vineyards near Noszvaj, an area known for its cooler climate and diverse soils. These conditions are particularly well suited to Chardonnay, allowing for slow ripening, retained acidity and refined aromatics that translate into freshness and elegance in the finished wine. Production Following harvest, the grapes are gently crushed and pressed before the juice is settled in tank. Alcoholic fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel to preserve freshness and purity of fruit. The absence of oak ensures that the wine remains bright, expressive and true to its varietal and vineyard origins. Tasting Notes Fresh and crisp in style, the wine displays subtle stone fruit and lemon aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and well balanced, with lively acidity, clean citrus flavours and a long, elegant finish that reinforces its unoaked, modern character. Food Match An excellent partner for light and delicate dishes such as crab, prawns or grilled fish. It also pairs beautifully with spring vegetable risotto or creamy vegetable

Spy Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2024

Characters of gooseberry and asparagus with ripe melon really delicately balanced and at the same time deliciously quaffable. Located across the road from a US government listening post, Spy Valley is one of New Zealand's most acclaimed producers. The grapes that do all the hard work come from 360 hectares of estate vineyards in the lower Waihopai Valley and from select vineyard sites in Marlborough's Wairau and Southern Valley regions. From there its up to Chief Winemaker, Paul Bourgeois, and a high-tech winery that wouldn't look out of place in the background of well known spys adventures. As well as having full temperature controls in every room, as well as lots of other gadgets, its situated right in the middle of the estate, ensuring very sensitive handling of fruit before crushing. Like most Marlborough wineries, Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are Spy Valley specialties but winemaker Paul Bourgeois and his team also make a great range of aromatic whites including Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris.
