La Crema Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2022
La Crema Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2021 is a sophisticated expression of cool-climate Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast AVA, renowned for its coastal breezes, foggy mornings, and well-draining soils. This wine captures the elegance, depth, and refined structure that Pinot Noir is celebrated for. Meet the producer La Crema, founded in 1979, specialises in cool-climate vineyards across California. Family-owned and operated, the winery focuses on handcrafting wines that showcase the distinctive character of each appellation. Vineyard and vintage The Sonoma Coast vineyards benefit from a maritime influence that moderates summer temperatures, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and develop complex aromatics. The 2021 vintage saw a dry winter followed by a mild spring and warm summer, producing fruit with intense flavour and bright acidity. Winemaking Grapes are hand-picked, gently de-stemmed, and cold-soaked for several days before fermentation in small open-top tanks. The wine is aged 8–9 months in French oak barrels (33% new) to integrate texture, structure, and subtle oak nuances, with careful blending prior to bottling. Tasting notes The nose reveals aromas of black cherry, raspberry, and earthy spice. On the palate, flavours of ripe cherry, boysenberry, and subtle hints of cola and cinnamon unfold, supported by fine tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is elegant, lingering, and refined.
