Larry Cherubino Pedestal Cabernet Sauvignon 2023
Larry Cherubino Pedestal Cabernet Sauvignon is a benchmark expression of Margaret River Cabernet, one of Australia's most celebrated wine regions and arguably the country's finest source for the variety. Crafted by Larry Cherubino, widely regarded as one of Western Australia's most talented and meticulous winemakers, Pedestal is the entry point into the Cherubino range and consistently over-delivers on quality, structure, and elegance for its price. Why You'll Love It Larry Cherubino has built his reputation on a singular commitment to terroir-driven winemaking across Western Australia's finest sub-regions. Margaret River's unique maritime climate, moderated by the Indian Ocean to the west and the Southern Ocean to the south, produces Cabernet Sauvignon of remarkable natural balance: ripe, structured, and fragrant, with the kind of cassis-driven fruit and fine-grained tannins that make it one of the world's great Cabernet regions. Pedestal captures all of that at an accessible price point. Vineyard & Production Sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Margaret River, Western Australia. Crafted with the precision and attention to detail that defines everything Larry Cherubino produces. Tasting Notes Classic Margaret River Cabernet, fragrant blackcurrant and cassis on the nose, with cedar, bay leaf, and a hint of dark chocolate. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, elegant finish. Structured for the medium term but very approachable now. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for roast lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, and aged hard cheeses. Also excellent with slow-braised red meats and hearty pasta dishes. Grape Variety Cabernet Sauvignon 100%
Spier Seaward Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Seaward grapes are selected from South Africa's top coastal areas, growing in a narrow band close to the cold Atlantic ocean and the temperate waters of False Bay. Such terroir provides what you might call a perfect storm - with barely any human intervention needed to produce outstanding harvests for our winemakers, every year. The vineyards are 6-20km from the ocean. They are planted on a range of aspects, from flat to north-eastern facing slopes that moderate phenolic development and enhance fruit preservation. The rich and deeply decomposed granite soil retains water well and is moderately fertile, resulting in low, concentrated yields. This adds to the complexity and tannin structure of the wine. Spier is one of South Africa's oldest wine farms with a recorded winemaking history dating back to 1692. The winemaking team is committed to crafting wines truly expressive of their terroir, with minimal interference. While rooted in this heritage, they have a vibrant and conscious energy. Their Growing for Good initiatives empower communities to make positive social and environmental change. Ranging from art and entrepreneurship to regenerative farming and ecological restoration, these projects and partnerships are creating a ripple effect of lasting and meaningful impact.
