Seaward grapes are selected from South Africa's top coastal areas, growing in a narrow band close to the cold Atlantic ocean and the temperate waters of False Bay. Dryland, trellised vines with an average age of 15 years yielded the grapes for this wine. Moderate summers with low night temperatures and cold winters create a perfect micro-climate for Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Spier is one of South Africa's oldest wine farms with a recorded winemaking history dating back to 1692.
