Les Heritiers Saint Genys Santenay Ier Cru La Maladiere 2021

Les Héritiers Saint-Genys Santenay 1er Cru La Maladière Rouge is an elegant, expressive Premier Cru Burgundy from the southern tip of the Côte de Beaune. Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir , it offers a perfect balance of ripe fruit, refined structure, and the kind of terroir-driven character that makes Santenay one of Burgundy's most rewarding appellations. Meet the Producer Les Héritiers Saint-Genys is a boutique Burgundy estate based in Chassagne-Montrachet, crafting wines that showcase the individuality of their vineyard sites through meticulous, sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking. Holdings span prestigious appellations across the Côte de Beaune, where limited production and careful vineyard management ensure wines of authenticity and genuine finesse. Vineyard and Production La Maladière is a Premier Cru climat located near the village of Chagny in Santenay, its name derived from the old French word for hospital, as these vineyards were historically bequeathed to charitable institutions such as the Hospices de Beaune. Les Héritiers Saint-Genys farm just under one hectare of 50-year-old Pinot Noir vines on steep, south-facing limestone slopes. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted in the vineyard before fermentation in stainless steel to preserve purity of fruit. The wine then ages for 16 months in French oak barrels, 20% new, adding subtle spice and structure. Tasting Notes Garnet red in colour, the nose opens with lifted aromas of raspberry, cherry, and violet, layered with hints of game and earth. The palate is elegant yet concentrated, with silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a fine mineral edge that carries through to a persistent, harmonious finish. Grape Variety Pinot Noir Perfect Pairings Ideal with grilled steak, roasted pheasant, or a slow-cooked beef casserole. Its supple texture and savoury complexity also make it an excellent companion for mushroom-based dishes and aged cheeses. About the Region Santenay sits at the southern end of

Pommard En Boeuf, Domaine Éric Boigelot 2019

The Pommard appellation in the Côte de Beaune is renowned for its powerful and structured Pinot Noir wines. Éric's 2019 "En Boeuf" has excellent aging potential; enjoy it now for its vibrant fruit and robust structure, and as it ages, the tannins will soften, and the wine will develop more complex, tertiary notes of dried fruit, underbrush, and savoury nuances. Enjoy it with rich and hearty dishes such as beef bourguignon, roasted lamb, duck breast, venison, and mushroom-based dishes. We're always keeping our eyes peeled for top value producers in Burgundy, and certainly Éric Boigelot is one of the most exciting we've found to date. The domaine is next door to Raphael Coche Dury - to whom Éric is selling grapes, including all his Narvaux (sadly!). Coche no longer writes domaine on the label because of the need to source fruit externally – an amount of which comes from Éric. If it's good enough for Coche, it's good enough for you should be the strapline here...
