Louis Cheze Pagus Luminis Condrieu 2023

' The family property was taken over in 1978 by Louis Chèze. The Domaine Louis Chèze is located on the top of the hillside of the commune of Limony, on the right bank of the Rhône, 60 Kms south of Lyon, in the heart of the northern Côtes du Rhône vineyard area. Monsieur Chèze started the adventure with 1 Ha in Saint-Joseph and a few vines he rented. Today, the estate represents 45 Ha in the prestigious appellations such as Condrieu, Saint-Joseph, Côte-Rôtie as well as well-situated vineyards in Vins de Pays districts. Since the year 2000, he is one of the forerunners with two winegrower friends reviving the fabulous Roman terroir of Seyssuel. Louis' determination, curiosity and rigour are of the utmost importance when it comes to monitoring the vineyard and making the wines. Each vintage is an in-depth search to capture the quintessence of the terroirs. Numerous vintages, each with their own differences will delight the wine and food lover in you. '

Savigny-Les-Beaune 'Vieilles Vignes' Blanc, Domaine Benoit Girardin 2023

"A more unusual white offering from Savigny, this cuvée is sourced from 35-year-old vines on limestone soils, lending it a taut minerality and cool-climate freshness. The nose is floral with subtle hints of white pepper and lime zest, while the palate combines structure, good acidity, and bright citrus notes, making it a lively, elegant wine." Our note Son of Yves and nephew of Vincent, Benoit Girardin has steadily carved out his own reputation and is already turning heads in the Parisian restaurant scene. 2023 was a standout vintage for Girardin, delivering both quantity and quality. While white yields were typical, the reds saw an unprecedented abundance. The whites were harvested first, beginning on September 7th, with the reds following on September 10th. Whites show a harmonious balance between sugar and acidity, with greater maturity and slightly softer acidity compared to 2022. The reds are all 100% destemmed with no fining or filtration, while the whites retain purity and definition with meticulous filtration.
