Meerlust Pinot Noir is a refined and elegantly structured expression of Pinot Noir from the coastal Stellenbosch region, grown on granitic soils at the Compagniesdrift terroir. The cooling maritime influence of False Bay slows ripening and preserves natural acidity, producing a Pinot Noir of real finesse, complexity and layered character. This is Cape Pinot Noir at its most refined. Vineyard & Production Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness from selected blocks at the Compagniesdrift terroir, then destemmed and gently crushed into small fermenters. Fermentation proceeds with minimal extraction to preserve elegance and finesse. Post-fermentation, the wine is matured in a combination of new and second-fill 300-litre barrels to develop structure and complexity before bottling.
