MES FAVORITES Vieilles Vignes Extra Brut Mareuil-sur-Aÿ Champagne Marc Hébrart NV
Crafted from old vines of massal selection planting on a south-facing site in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the NV Brut Premier Cru Mes Favorites Vieilles Vignes offers up an elegant, complex bouquet of white peach, pear, herbs, lemon oil, pastry and tangerine. Fleshier and deeper than its siblings, it's medium to full-bodied, vinous and charming and has a delicate, vinous core of fruit that leads to a long, saline and slightly anise-inflected finish. This blend of 80% Pinot Noir and 20% Chardonnay (based on the 2019 and 2020 vintages in equal parts) was disgorged with a dosage of 5.5 grams per liter.
Pol Roger, Brut Réserve NV
Pol Roger Brut Réserve is a classic Champagne that immediately charms with aromas of white flowers, crisp green apple, brioche, and a subtle mineral edge. The palate is bright and fresh, with stone fruits, a gentle nuttiness, and just a touch of honey rounding out the lively acidity. Bottles destined for the UK get an extra six months’ ageing after disgorgement, making them beautifully ready to drink on release - though a few years in the cellar will add even more depth and complexity. The cuvée is crafted from 30 base wines drawn from a wide range of vineyards, vintages, and the region’s three main grape varieties. Pinot Noir (from villages in the Montagne de Reims) brings structure and depth; Chardonnay (from Épernay and the Côte des Blancs) adds elegance and finesse; while Pinot Meunier (from the Vallée de la Marne) contributes freshness and charm. Around 25% reserve wines are included, with the blend aged four years before release.
