MEURSAULT Narvaux Domaine Rémi Jobard 2022
(from vines of approximately 55+ years of age). There is just enough reduction to suppress everything but a touch of petrol character. There is fine volume to the solidly concentrated middleweight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the balanced and slightly more complex finale that is also clean, dry and persistent. Lovely.
VOLNAY 1er Cru Fremiets Domaine Comte Armand 2021
Here too there is a subtle but perceptible dollop of wood on the nose that is a bit more deeply pitched as well as noticeably spicier. There is excellent mid-palate density to the seductively rich, even suave and velvety, medium bodied flavors that conclude in a vaguely sweet, balanced and long finale. This presently lacks a bit of nuance for my taste though I suspect that it will add more with age as Frémiets typically does just that.
