MEURSAULT Sous la Velle Domaine Rémi Jobard 2022
(from a .33 ha parcel). Pungent aromas of reduction and wood render the nose tough to evaluate. More interesting are the round, delicious and equally caressing medium weight flavors that possess fine mid-palate volume, all wrapped in a clean, dry and citrus-inflected finish that could use better depth. VOSNE ROMANÉE Les Violettes Domaine Christian Clerget 2021
(from .50 ha parcel planted in 1946; Les Violettes abuts Clos de Vougeot). A relatively high-toned nose offers up its array of red currant, cherry, sandalwood and exotic tea. The delicious, supple and moderately forward middleweight flavors are supported by fine-grained tannins on the complex and persistent if slightly lean finale. Like the Morey villages, I suspect that this will flesh out if given a few years of keeping and my projected range offers the benefit of the doubt.
