MOREY SAINT DENIS 'Petites Noix' 1er Cru Domaine Stéphane Magnien 2019

This is a blend of two little vineyards, Gruenchers and Clos Baulet. This is the one cuvée where Stéphane allows a small proportion of whole bunch, (10%) to counter the clay soil. It is amazing though to see such a clear effect from the inclusion of so small a percentage, really changing the profile, bringing a fresher red fruit, and a very long finish with a tiny bitterness. So different in style to the sturdy Faconnieres! Tasted: November 2020 4/5 stars

PALEO Bianco Le Macchiole 2022

The 2022 Paleo Bianco (Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc) is quite attractive. Hints of peach, tangerine oil and spice show the slightly exotic character of a warm, dry year, but without excess. I would open the Bianco in advance, as aeration is quite beneficial. Readers will find a rich white that can be enjoyed before a meal or at the dinner table. Harvest took place in early August, very early by any standard.
