MOREY SAINT DENIS Vieilles Vignes Domaine Lignier-Michelot 2020
(from a blend of Très Girard, Les Cognées and Chenevery). Here the nose is sufficiently reduced that only discreet floral wisps can be discerned. Once again there is a lovely texture to the vibrant, delineated and utterly delicious medium weight flavors that deliver fine length on the moderately austere finish that is so refreshing that one feels like drinking it. This could use a bit more depth, but more should develop in time.
SAINT AUBIN 1er Cru Sentier du Clou Domaine Fernand & Laurent Pillot 2023
A distinctly cooler nose reflects smoky aromas of Granny Smith apple, lemon zest and mineral reduction. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the super-sleek and overtly stony middle weight flavors that deliver fine persistence on the balanced and youthfully austere finale. This too could use more complexity so I would suggest allowing for at least a few years of bottle aging. Recommended.
