MOYA MEAKER Pinot Noir Elgin 2024
The Moya Meaker 2024 Elgin Pinot Noir is a delicate and finely etched wine, showing redcurrant and subtle blue floral notes over a lean, almost fragile texture. Grapes from Bokkeveld shale soils ferment spontaneously in concrete tanks before maturing in 300-liter Burgundian barrels, shaping gentle structure and length. Elgin’s cool climate and elevated vineyards preserve aromatic lift and tension, reinforcing the wine’s elegance. Production totals 9,237 bottles, plus 216 magnums.
SAINT VÉRAN Prélude Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau 2023
The 2023 Saint Véran Prélude, which comes from the most precocious vines around Chasselas, is raised 50% in stainless steel and the rest in demi-muids and foudres. It has a fine nose with detailed yellow fruit and waxy aromas, again just the veil of reduction that will lift with time. The palate is more expressive with a silver bead of acidity, orange rind and light apricot notes, lively with a touch of lemongrass on the finish. Give this a year in bottle.
