Nuits-Saint-Georges 'Les Chaliots', Maison Pierre Meurgey 2022

Our second vintage from Pierre, who divides his time between vineyards in Macon and the Cote d’Or, the latter being made in Chateau de Bligny, formerly the winemaking base of Jane Eyre. Pierre characterises 2022 has having “ ripeness and preserved freshness" . He suggests that despite the hot year the wines do not have the same concentration as 2020 - which were more forced because of the early harvest, and instead show a greater natural balance, being made from “ happy fruit ” as he puts it. He notes the wines have gained more body during élévage but retain a fresher style than normal solar vintages. Head Wine Guru Tom's notes are a little brief as an unexpected appointment to taste the Hospices de Beaune 2023 wines at the cuverie prior to this year’s auction cut across our appointment so we raced through these wines with almost indecent haste! We highly suggest you take your time to appreciate them more leisurely as there is plenty to enjoy here. "A stony lieu dit in the south of the commune beneath ‘Les Porrets’ 1er Cru. Whilst powerful Nuits structure defines the palate, a dried flower elegance on the nose lifts the wine. Sappy red and blue fruits and rich earth on the nose, lead to a compact, cedary palate, with tapenade and dried herb notes and a distinctly saline finish." Tom Harrow, Head Wine Guru

Yarra Yering, Pinot Noir 2021

Est. delivery in August, 2026 Yarra Yering is one of those names that commands quiet reverence in Australian wine. Founded by the late Dr Bailey Carrodus in 1969, it was among the first to prove that the Yarra Valley could produce Pinot Noir of genuine depth and elegance — not just by Australian standards, but by any standard. The 2021 vintage arrived after a cool, measured growing season that gave the fruit exceptional clarity and freshness, and this wine carries that in every sip. In the glass, it's all restraint and precision: taut red fruit, earthy complexity, and a structure that's fine rather than forceful. The tannins are silky but present, and there's a cool-mineral quality that runs through the wine like a thread.
