Saint Clair Sauvignon Blanc 2024
Saint Clair Family Estate was founded by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, pioneers of the Marlborough wine industry. Since planting their first vineyards in 1978 and establishing the estate in 1994, they have cultivated 160 hectares across ten prime Marlborough sites, selected for their unique terroir and capacity to produce premium grapes. The estate follows sustainable viticulture practices and holds Sustainable Wines of New Zealand certification. Saint Clair is internationally acclaimed for its Sauvignon Blanc, consistently producing wines of elegance, purity, and distinctive Marlborough character. Vineyard The grapes for 'Origin' are sourced from select vineyards in the lower Wairau sub-region, regarded as Marlborough’s finest area for Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are planted on alluvial, silt-rich soils, contributing to vibrant aromatics and structured fruit. Harvesting is carefully timed to ensure maximum flavour maturity and physiological ripeness, preserving the delicate balance of acidity and complexity in the grapes. Winemaking Grapes are pressed immediately after harvest to minimise skin contact and preserve aromatic intensity. Following cold settling, fermentation occurs in 100% stainless steel at cool temperatures using selected yeasts, allowing the wine to retain freshness, clarity, and varietal purity. Only the finest parcels are chosen for the final blend, ensuring depth and complexity. Tasting Notes Herbaceous and crisp, with intense aromas of passionfruit, grapefruit, and green apple complemented by a subtle hint of jalapeño pepper. The palate is rich yet refined, layered with white stone fruit, grapefruit pith, and blackcurrant, culminating in a salty, mineral finish. A vibrant expression of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc with excellent balance and freshness. Grape Variety Sauvignon Blanc 100%
Schola Sarmenti Candora Chardonnay 2024
Schola Sarmenti Candora Chardonnay is a beautifully expressive white from the sun-soaked vineyards of Salento in southern Italy, capturing the warmth and generosity of Puglia while maintaining a refined balance of freshness, texture and aromatic depth. Full, velvety and elegantly structured, this is southern Italian Chardonnay at its most characterful. Why You'll Love It Schola Sarmenti is one of Salento's most respected producers, farming vineyards in one of Italy's most ancient wine-growing regions with a focus on quality, precision and the expression of local terroir. Candora is their Chardonnay, crafted from 15-year-old vines trained in the spalliera system with Guyot pruning, with carefully managed yields to ensure fruit concentration and quality. The result is a wine of great character, balance and persistence that over-delivers at its price point. Vineyard & Production Chardonnay vines around 15 years old are planted at a density of 4,200 vines per hectare with yields carefully managed at approximately 7,000 kg per hectare. Grapes are hand-picked and gently placed into airy crates to preserve their integrity before fermentation at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. Tasting Notes Fresh floral aromas mingle with notes of exotic fruit and a delicate hint of vanilla spice on the nose. The palate is dry, full and velvety, with a beautifully harmonious structure and an elegant, lingering finish. A wine of great character, balance and persistence. Perfect Pairings Ideal with grilled seafood, creamy risottos and roasted chicken with Mediterranean herbs. Also excellent with soft cheeses, light pasta dishes and seafood antipasti.
