Santenay Premier Cru 'Beauregard', Edouard Delaunay, (Magnum) 2023

Est. delivery in 2026 Edouard Delaunay's 2023 reds are more refined, with less power than the previous years, offering more elegance and poise. The acidity is well-integrated, and the tannins are fine and soft, especially in the wines from the southern parts of Nuits-Saint-Georges (NSG), which do not include any whole bunches. The reds from 2023 show great potential for ageing, with enough structure to develop further while maintaining a fresh, layered character. Overall, the 2023 vintage is a welcome surprise, offering a balance of power and elegance. With a focus on terroir expression, the wines show great ageing potential and freshness, with no over-ripeness or dilution. The whites are bright, fresh, and pure, while the reds show refinement and elegance, with a good structure for future ageing. While some of the wines are still developing, there is much to look forward to in the coming years. Delaunay features as one of the Top 15 Négociants & Cooperatives in Tim Atkin's Burgundy 2023 Special Report.

Telmo Rodriguez, Yjar 2019

Yjar is very much continuing the trailblazing trajectory set by its inaugural release in 2017, which was the first Spanish wine ever offered via La Place. Telmo Rodriguez is in our opinion Rioja's most exciting winemaker. We've worked with Telmo for a few years now, and it's been an honour to represent some of the incredible wines from his Remelluri and Lanzaga vineyards. Telmo's style of Rioja is almost unique in the region, using minimal oak and preferring to let the purity of fruit do the talking. His chief ambition, he has told us, was to craft wines that are just as profound as the great crus of Bordeaux. We say was, as with the Yjar, clearly he has achieved that.
