Spier Seaward Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
Seaward grapes are selected from South Africa's top coastal areas, growing in a narrow band close to the cold Atlantic ocean and the temperate waters of False Bay. Such terroir provides what you might call a perfect storm - with barely any human intervention needed to produce outstanding harvests for our winemakers, every year. The vineyards are 6-20km from the ocean. They are planted on a range of aspects, from flat to north-eastern facing slopes that moderate phenolic development and enhance fruit preservation. The rich and deeply decomposed granite soil retains water well and is moderately fertile, resulting in low, concentrated yields. This adds to the complexity and tannin structure of the wine. Spier is one of South Africa's oldest wine farms with a recorded winemaking history dating back to 1692. The winemaking team is committed to crafting wines truly expressive of their terroir, with minimal interference. While rooted in this heritage, they have a vibrant and conscious energy. Their Growing for Good initiatives empower communities to make positive social and environmental change. Ranging from art and entrepreneurship to regenerative farming and ecological restoration, these projects and partnerships are creating a ripple effect of lasting and meaningful impact.
Vistalba Corte B
Vistalba Corte B is a Bordeaux-inspired red blend from one of Mendoza's most prestigious estates, founded by Carlos Pulenta in Lujan de Cuyo. A wine of real depth, structure and elegance, it showcases the very best of high-altitude Mendoza viticulture through careful blending and traditional winemaking. Why You'll Love It Carlos Pulenta established Vistalba with a clear vision: to craft wines that express the character of estate-grown fruit from Mendoza's most historic premium districts. The Corte series represents that philosophy at its finest, assembling Bordeaux-inspired blends that highlight the terroir, structure and elegance that Lujan de Cuyo does so well. Alluvial soils and significant diurnal temperature variation allow the grapes to ripen fully while retaining freshness and precision. Vineyard and Production Sourced from estate vineyards in Vistalba, Lujan de Cuyo, one of Mendoza's most celebrated high-altitude districts. Old-vine plantings contribute depth and concentration, while the wine is aged in French oak barrels to develop complexity, texture and aromatic refinement while preserving fruit purity. Tasting Notes Deep, vibrant colour with a generous aromatic profile of black cherries, plums, cassis and violet. Subtle layers of cocoa, tobacco leaf, cedar and baking spice from refined oak ageing. Full-bodied yet smooth on the palate, with ripe tannins, concentrated dark fruit and excellent mid-palate depth. A thread of freshness lifts the wine to a long, persistent finish with savoury notes and mineral tension. Perfect Pairings A natural partner for roast lamb, beef fillet and slow-braised red meats. Also excellent with aged hard cheeses, venison and hearty stews. Grape Variety Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon
