Ventisquero Grey (Glacier) Sauvignon Blanc 2020
Ventisquero Grey Sauvignon Blanc is a refined and expressive white wine from Chile's coastal Huasco Valley, crafted to capture the full character of a single vineyard block. Hand-harvested and carefully selected under the direction of winemaker Felipe Tosso, this wine showcases the purity of the Sauvignon Blanc grape alongside the distinctive influence of Chile's northern desert climate. Fresh citrus aromas are complemented by a delicate saline edge, offering remarkable freshness, balance, and finesse. Why You'll Love It This is premium single-block vineyard Sauvignon Blanc from Ventisquero's prestigious Grey collection. Hand-picked grapes undergo cold maceration for six to eight hours, fully protected from oxygen to preserve bright aromatics. Fermentation takes place slowly at controlled low temperatures to enhance the wine's fresh, mineral-driven expression. The wine is aged on fine lees for ten months with gentle bâtonnage to develop texture and complexity, with no oak influence to maintain focus on crisp fruit and coastal minerality. Winemaker Felipe Tosso crafts wines that celebrate Chile's diverse terroirs with innovation and sustainability. Wildeberg Terroirs Chenin Blanc 2023
Wildeberg Terroirs Chenin Blanc is a premium South African white wine crafted from 45+ year-old bush vines grown on Table Mountain granite outcrops in Paarl. This wine is an expression of the most exciting vineyard blocks across the Coastal Region, capturing the unique character and terroir of these historic vines. Hand-harvested and naturally fermented at the Wildeberg estate, it is aged for 12 months in a combination of new and older French oak barrels to create a textural, site-driven wine. Tasting Notes On the nose, this Chenin Blanc is broad, savoury, and complex, with aromas of ripe stonefruit, citrus, straw, saffron, and baked earth. The palate is generous and textured, revealing flavours of apricot, green plum, and grapefruit. The richness of fruit is balanced by tangy freshness and a taut mineral seam, leading to a long, focused finish. Food Pairing This versatile white wine pairs beautifully with grilled fish and white meats, and is particularly well-suited to asparagus or vegetable-based dishes. Winemaking The 2022 vintage comes entirely from Eenzaamheid, a vineyard planted in 1977. The old, dry-farmed bush vines are hand-harvested and fermented naturally at the Wildeberg estate. Minimal intervention is employed to preserve the site-specific character, and the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels to add subtle complexity while maintaining freshness and structure.
