Charles Heidsieck Rosé Réserve is a non-vintage Champagne that exemplifies the house’s finesse and complexity. Grapes are sourced from the finest villages in Champagne, including Les Riceys, Ambonnay, and Aÿ, with 4–5% red wine from Les Riceys contributing richness and elegance. The base wines undergo fermentation in stainless steel, followed by malolactic fermentation to soften acidity and enhance texture. Approximately 20% reserve wines are blended in before bottling, and the cuvée undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle. The Champagne is then aged in the historic chalk cellars for 48–60 months, far exceeding the legal minimum, to achieve depth, complexity, and a harmonious mouthfeel. Meet the producer Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, known as ‘Champagne Charlie’, Charles Heidsieck is one of Champagne’s smallest Grand Marques, celebrated for its historic crayères cellars beneath Reims and its dedication to extended lees ageing. Today, cellar master Emilien Erard leads the house, continuing its tradition of quality, precision, and sustainability, holding B-Corp Certification since 2022. Production Grapes are carefully selected from top villages and vinified in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation follows, and reserve wines are blended in. Bottles undergo secondary fermentation, after which they are matured in chalk cellars for 48–60 months before disgorgement. Minimal fining and filtration preserve aromatics and texture. Tasting notes Coral-like in appearance with subtle orange reflections. The nose displays delicate aromas of wild strawberries and almond pastries, which evolve into richer notes of gingerbread and cinnamon. The palate is silky and rich, with a long, balanced finish that perfectly expresses the complexity of the Charles Heidsieck style.
