About this sparkling wine

Pongrácz is named after Desiderius Pongrácz, a Hungarian nobleman whose pioneering viticultural vision helped shape South African sparkling wine. Inspired by the traditional methods of Champagne, Pongrácz Méthode Cap Classique Brut is crafted with precision and elegance, offering a refined expression of South Africa’s terroir and winemaking heritage. Viticulture Grapes are sourced from select vineyards in the Western Cape, where cool coastal breezes and diverse soils contribute to slow ripening and concentrated flavour. The Chardonnay provides finesse and freshness, while Pinot Noir adds body and structure. Winemaking Produced using the Méthode Cap Classique, South Africa’s equivalent of the traditional Champagne method. The wine undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and is matured on the lees for a minimum of 24 months, enhancing complexity and creaminess. Tasting Note Delicate mousse with crisp green apple, citrus, and toasted brioche aromas. The palate is dry and elegant, with fine bubbles and a lingering, refreshing finish. Food Matching Perfect as an aperitif or paired with oysters, smoked salmon, sushi, or creamy cheeses.
