About this spirit
Angostura 1919 Rum carries a story rooted in Trinidad’s rum‑making heritage. Its name comes from a warehouse fire in 1932 that destroyed much of the island’s ageing stock. When the surviving barrels were opened, they were found to contain rum distilled in 1919, and the blend created from them became the inspiration for this modern expression. Today’s 1919 isn’t from that original batch, of course, but it’s crafted to echo its smooth, mellow character through careful blending and ageing. Its aroma shows soft vanilla, warm caramel, gentle oak and a touch of coconut. On the palate, it offers a smooth, rounded texture with notes of toffee, light spice, creamy vanilla and a subtle toasted character from time spent in ex‑bourbon barrels. The finish is warm, mellow and lightly sweet, making it an easy-going sipping rum that also works beautifully in refined classic cocktails.
