About this spirit

In 1968, Chairman George S Grant, the fourth generation of the Grant family, selected and bottled a cask at its natural strength as a Christmas gift for family and friends. This cask was bottled at 105° British proof, which is equivalent to 60% alcohol by volume. The high-strength whisky proved so popular that Mr. Grant continued to bottle Glenfarclas at this strength, making it, according to the distillery, the first officially released cask-strength Scotch whisky in the world. Thus, the Glenfarclas 105 was born! This special edition of the 105 comprises casks that have aged beautifully while maintaining their exceptional strength, resulting in this very limited bottling of 16 year old Glenfarclas at 60% alcohol by volume. Carefully chosen and created by Glenfarclas Distillery Manager Callum A Fraser and Managing Director Douglas Belford, this outstanding expression embodies the renowned Glenfarclas style. Only 5,280 bottles of this limited-edition 16-year-old 105 are available worldwide across all our key markets. This dram starts off with immediate notes of soft butterscotch, vanilla essence, and exquisite, bold spices on the nose. It has deeply complex flavours on the palate with stewed berry fruits, melted butter toffee, and freshly baked almond biscuits.
