Green Spot is one of Ireland's most storied single pot still whiskeys, produced exclusively for the Mitchell family since the 19th century. The Mitchells began trading in Dublin in 1805 and expanded into whiskey bonding in 1887, sending empty wine, sherry, and port casks by horse and cart to the local Jameson Distillery to be filled and returned to their cellar warehouse. There the whiskeys matured under bond until ready to bottle. The name itself comes from the old bonding practice of daubing barrels with a colour to denote age. Green Spot is a living piece of Irish whiskey history, and it remains one of the finest expressions of the single pot still style.
