Ichiro’s Malt Chichibu 10-Year-Old 2025 Release is a landmark Japanese single malt whisky that showcases the elegance and innovation of Chichibu Distillery. Crafted in the mountainous region of Saitama Prefecture, just 100 kilometres from Tokyo, this expression is the second age statement release from the distillery, following the acclaimed ‘The First Ten’ in 2020. Founded by Ichiro Akuto in 2008, Chichibu Distillery continues the Akuto family’s long-standing tradition of alcohol production, bringing a refined and modern approach to Japanese whisky-making. This 10-year-old single malt is matured in a trio of cask types—ex-bourbon barrels, sherry casks and ex-wine barrels—each contributing distinct layers of flavour and complexity. The ex-bourbon casks enhance the whisky’s bright, fruit-forward profile, while the sherry and wine casks introduce subtle spice and depth. On the nose, it bursts with tropical aromas of pineapple and mango, underpinned by sweet vanilla and honey. The palate is rich and full-bodied, revealing notes of orange peel, peach and vibrant redcurrant. A touch of white pepper and roasted malt rounds out the finish, leaving a lasting impression of warmth and sophistication.
